Background info. my dad I guess used to have a huge gambling problem. I guess he gambled away all of my parents savings over the last 10 yrs so now they are not together. Now I use gambling as an escape from everything. My mom warns me all the time not get hooked weather it be sports/casinos. My response was always I know I'm only doing it for fun, once in a blue moon. (lying to her)

It first started with the casinos after I turned 21, after winning a couple times as a beginner I was hooked. Then 2 yrs later I discovered online poker, sportsbooks and bookies. Ever since then I would bet on almost everything except for horses.....mostly football and basketball. At first it really didn't effect me at all since I had a job. But then last Oct. '02 I got laid off leaving me with a gambling problem and no job. I used to believe I could survive betting on sports, temp work, and credit cards. I did this for about a yr this past Oct. But now I'm not able to keep my head above water....I had to sell and borrow cuz of my problem. After going through what I went through this past week I told myself I'm done. On the plus side I did find a job starting Mon. Since this is already to long I'll end it here.

Does anyone else on here have or had a gambling problem or know someone? I need help but don't know where to turn. I was thinking about G.A. but wasn't sure if it was free since I can't afford to pay for it.
