Well, if they honestly believed it was an anti-gun movie then I wouldn't bother carrying on a discussion with them about it.
Part of the reason Moore goes to Canada is to show that we have tons of guns too but no where near the same murder rate. He EXPLCITLY says that Canada is a bunch of gun crazy people too, so why is there a difference? Then he talks about what he saw on the news while he was up here and the phenomenon of people not loicking their doors. It then relates to the whole culture of fear and consumption that he discusses with Marilyn Manson. He has a discussion with a father of one of the victims of Columbine and he asks what it is that drives Americans to kill eacho ther so much. Guns themselves are never mentioned as the reason. Did you really miss all this?
I don't think you've seen the movie. If you watch the film and keep your eyes open there's no possible way you'd walk away from it thinking it's an anti-gun movie. If you do, how's that Michael Moore's fault?
