As I forgot to say, if you're not runnig x86, forget updating to 2.6.0 right now, as Linus' freeze is directly for getting x86 stable enough for a release.
No, Linus does not just care about x86, but there is a big problem in the community of the kernel where other architecture developers keep their own tree up to right before a version is released, and this is kind of hard to merge in at the last minute.. I suspect if you want to run other than x86 to wait till a few versions after the final 2.6.0
As far as you RedHat guys, its fairly simple from what I've read to upgrade. The binaries in those dists actually already support 2.6.0.
