I don't even know what other thread everyone is referring to, but this thread doesn't seem to be made with the purpose of promoting healthy discussion. Don't complain about trolls and flamers in a thread that is clearly flamebait...
I'm assuming the original discussion had something to do with a chain letter or something. If this indeed is about something their grandma emailed them and made their day better; here's my response:
Old people are gullible and more likely to believe and perpetuate these chain letters. I have never come across a chain letter that had any truth to it, and so I do not participate in them.
If something makes my day and I post it here, great. but if it IS fake, I'd rather know. I guess it relates to
this thread in a way, would you prefer to live in ignorant bliss or know the painful truth?
It's not the veracity of these stories that makes us feel better, it's the stories themselves. If learning some touching email forwarded to you is fictional ruins your day, then you need to reassess how you achieve happiness.
That said, I can spot bullshit when I see it, but around here I leave it up to someone else to point it out (unless it's something I'm vehemently opposed to), it's just not worth the conflict.
