Tonight I watched
Waiting for Guffman starring Eugene Levy, Christopher Guest, et al. This film is a mockumentary directed by Christopher Guest dealing with a small town theater production.
The small town of Blaine, Missouri is celebrating it's 150th anniversary and part of the celebration is a production of Corky St. Clair's (Guest) original musical
Red, White and Blaine. The cast seems to be cluelessly untalented, but become very excited when they learn that a talent scount named Mort Guffman is planning to fly down from New York to see the production.
The movie is very funny, but seems to fall a little short of Guest's other works such as
This is Spinal tap and
Best in Show (I haven't seen
A Mighty Wind yet). Even still, if you're a fan of his work or of the mockumentary genre it's definately worth checking out... Especially if you've been involved in small time theater.
