I love the fact that this place is moderated -- so that stupid and abusive comments, the plague of the internet, get filtered out -- and I'm very thankful to the moderators and admins for taking care of that task.
I help run a much lower-traffic website and know that it's a major pain to do. I can't imagine the headaches they deal with.
That said, I do feel a sense of community here, though I don't participate in the chat as much as I'd like (I have very limited free time these days), and there are definitely a lot of people on here I'd like to get to know better, but haven't had the chance to.
But more than the sense of community I feel in relation to myself, I also sense a much larger sense of community between some of the other users -- the fact that people care enough about each other to go and post birthday messages on the forum, just as a minor example, among many other things.
But above all else, I appreciate the fact that the people that post here are mature enough to realize that this is not your average message board, this is something special. It's special to Halx, because he created it. It's special to the admins and moderators, because they help run it. It's special to me, because I can carry out honest discussions with people, seek advice, provide advice, and otherwise communicate with interesting people from around the globe.
