Other forums, moderation & community
I have checked out a few forums over the years and onlyo ne really had a "community." It was totally unmoderated and it worked. It was hosted by a magazine and was advertized in that mag. People on the other forum were generally respectfull of others and if they were assholes they were ignored and eventually cleaned up thier act or went away. They donated items of value (hundreds of dollars) to other members when the shit hit the fan. One guy was traveling when his truck's tranny blew and his dog got sick. He posted his woes and before long cash was flowing to bail him out of a situation. He had never met most of the people who donated cash other that over the internet.
Other forums I have visited almost have this level of family feeling but not quite. The ones that seem to come closest are the ones whos participants are unmoderated.
If I or anyone on this forum were in Anytown USA became stranded how many people from this forum would be willing to bail a stranger out? I have not noticed a lot of "family" on this board &I wonder what brings people here and why they stay other than the abundant sex talk/exibition.
Sorry to be a little longwinded but, what holds this "community" together besides sex and porn?
