but yeah, this is one of the best postseasons in a long time, and the tv ratings prove people are watching again. this is our national past time, and i hope mlb can keep the momentum going.
the best story is a cubs/red sox series - it pulls the deepest heart strings of baseball traditionalists. it's a replay of the 1918 series, the last time the bosox won.
no offense to the hard scrabble fighting fish or the pinstriped knickerbockers... but a yanks/fish series just wouldn't have the same magic.
the pants are getting baggy again, guys are showing their stirrups. baseball is best when it ties itself into it's deep tradition and carries it on. i saw enough purple and aqua and expansions in the last series. give me some good old fashioned gold and show me how red that ivy will turn as october wanes on.
