Historically speaking, Lincoln beats out Washington because Washington had dozens of founding fathers helping the country along with him while Lincoln had only himself to hold America together. Lincoln faced some of the darkest days of our nation and was able to conquer them with divided support. Washington may have set the stage, but Lincoln kept the show on Broadway.
Personal experience, I've always loved Reagan because he was able to end the Cold War and did wonderful things with the economy. Of course, I was a kid when he was president so that might also have something to do with it.
