I really have a problem understanding how anyone who lives in this country would be stupid enough to want their own country clobbered. I have seen some assinine attempts to justify a lot if really ignorant statements made on these boards but that one takes the cake - Just where do you American hating Americans plan on living after you're clobbered? Have you come up with somewhere you think is better - If you think you have go live there a while - No! move there permanently and let's see if your opinion changes.

Maybe i'll move to canada. Or maybe i'll move into your house after the clobbering, cause you'll obviously be dead or in some unlawful combatant camp somewhere near salt lake city. Yes, your house sounds kind've nice. And then, our new french leaders appoint me Duke of Florida as recognition for my heroic attempts to assist them in taking down the U.S. dictatorship from within. After a period of time where i sucumb to alcoholism and wonton abuse of my sweet, sweet dukeship i will somehow end up losing my sight. At this point i will realize that i cannot be a leader lacking sight, even though the spice has allowed me vision beyond my eyes. After doing something heroic, or something, i will walk, alone, out into the everglades. never to be seen again.
Is that asinine enough for you?
How'd you vote?
I'd love to hear a non-asinine statement backing up anyone who voted france to be cloberreereered.

Flitherton, et. al. do you really believe that it is the big bad ole United States that is keeping the world in turmoil and if we would just go away then everyone else would live in peace and harmony?

I really don't know what to believe. Right now, it seems like the united states is pursuing some sort of world domination through a combination of military and economic might. We care little for international law or agreements unless they serve the interests of the wealthy few who sponsor our elected officials' elections. Americans, in general appear to be both shortsighted, and militantly arrogant.
Only an american would denounce saddam as a ruthless dictator whose country needs to be liberated all the while ignoring our continuing support for despots across the globe.
I don't think the united states is keeping the whole world in turmoil, as you put it. Just that we don't really give a damn about anybody else unless they have something we want. If that sounds like the kind of country you want to be your world's sole superpower, more power to you. You'd probably change your answer if you were in a marginalized country with no exploitable resources besides cheap labor.
As for "clobbered", I doubt any coalition could occupy our country. I wasn't advocating that. I do think that the world would be a better place if we weren't the big kid on the block. Which will probably only going to occur when our inflated economy collapses.

I voted France, and also agree with LD and Lebells statements. The U.S. not existing will not bring peace, it'll just make war nastier =).

As opposed to our current fluffy, cuddly, sunshine n' lollipops U.S. war and occupation or iraq? How about the low intensity(read terrorism) wars we sponsor in south america, or our support of indonesia's invasion and de facto genocide attempt in east timor. Yep, war has really been suffering with the U Ess Of A up in here.
