I don't mind the term 'vagina', but I agree that is does sound too medical, the same with 'penis'. I've gotten into the habit of using 'dick' or 'cock' for my manhood, and 'pussy' for the vagina. I don't particularly like the usage of 'cunt' myself, as it is commonly used as a derogatory term.
