I don't think guys have become bored of the vagina. I think anal sex has been around as long as, well, vaginal sex. Before lube was invented I'm sure it was a lot less comfortable but I'm willing to bet it's been around since the dawn of time.
You just have to read everyone else's reasons above to see why some guys enjoy anal sex. It's not a matter of the vagina being obsolete, it's a matter of it being an option.
It all boils down to 'If it feels good, do it.'
