This design does remind me of the rx-8, however Mazda did not invent suicide, or freestyle as they are now called, doors. Mazda simply reintroduced them. As for likenesses, a light body, freestyle doors and influence from Ford are all I see as likenesses between this and an rx-8. Glad to see Jaguar is coming out with better products than the ones they have at the bottom of their line. Im glad to see a luxary company help expand diesel technology which has more potential in my feeling than does regular gasoline engines.

Ford owns 30% of Mazda. Ford does not own Mazda. Yes its true that Mazda often uses Ford designs, but its not true that Ford designs all Mazda parts. Any technology not seen in a Ford is Mazda derived. The body, the engine and the suspension, to name a few, of the rx-8 are all Mazda.
