You will need a capture utility.
I use adobe premiere.

Your camera will have come with some sofware too.
My cannon has some useful enough sofware called Presto Video Works

You can also try Microsft's Movie Maker

You are going to need a lot of space both for your swap file and storage. I captured about 2 hours and it was almost 12GB (mind you I had compression off.
