things don't get 'heavier' they just condense.. but ice is the one that expands, thus making it float... it would be annoying if it sank though... then you would have to wait forever to chew on your ice in drinks
what about tv controllers?.. imagine not having a remote control for you tv.. they just make sense
also.. best way to invent something... think of something that 'makes sense' or makes peoples lives easier.. and it will sell
basically, if you want to invent something, make sure it can impact peoples lives to make them lazier
