As a westerner that acknowledges the differences between grilling and BBQ, and only having a gas grill right now (the charcoal one passed away....)

Question: Since Grilling is slow cooking over indirect heat, can the same be acomplished with a crockpot? can I cook ribs in my crockpot with a dry rub, and liquid smoke, to get roughly the same sort of result from a proper southern BBQ??

Any insight would be appreciated.
