Is it ok to take the law into your own hands for the good of society? This can be debated over and over again, and is typically one of the unresolved disputes in our country. Is it fair to murder murderers and rapists that deserve it? If one feels that our justice system is too lenient, is it morally right or wrong to take it into one's own hands? I understand that this theme is exaggerated in Boondock Saints, but it is the theme of the movie. Their mission is to pick up where the US justice system left off, punishing those that have committed sins and gotten away with it. In some areas, a convicted rapist can go to jail for a year and then get off on parole. Some people believe in forgiveness, and others don't.
I'm not saying that I agree with the views of this movie. I'm actually half and half. The point is, it does have an ulterior motive, and it's the simple issue of "disposing" the crime syndicates and those involved within the US. Should a group of ordinary citizens risk their lives to do it, or should it be left to the US justice system with the possibility of those criminals not paying for their crimes?
