I'm very sorry but this almost made me laugh. I feel horrible now.
My first memory, at least the very first that I can place in time is a very unpleasant one. It (or perhaps rather the event that the memory is of) has actually given me several nightmares through my life, mosltly when I was a kid.
I'm about four years old and my three years younger brother has just fallen into a ditch and is slowly disappearing under water. I'm running towards him to pull him out of there but won't make it. Then I remember my mother holding him, all muddy and screaming like a pig.
It ended up fine but the feeling of not being able to make has been tough. Whether it's an actual recollection of my feelings at the time or if I have created that memory.
