I agree with maximusveritas -- Woodrow Wilson laid the foundation for the modern United States -- the first income tax, the Federal Reserve, the FTC, women's suffrage. He quickened the end of World War I and his international vision led to the League of Nations which in turn modeled the UN. If he hadn't broken down, perhaps he could have pushed the US into the League and ultimately prevented WWII.
