I went to high school with a kid who died in what had to be one of the worst ways possible. He parked his car on a muddy incline, it started either rolling or sliding away, and he tried to grab it. He slipped on the mud, fell under the car, and got pinned down. He probably would have survived had it not been running, but the catalytic converter burned through his stomach and intestines and he went into septic shock. It was a half hour before anyone found him. He was still alive but it was too late. The fire department had to scrape him off the exhaust.
I knew a nurse who was on duty when he came in. She knew his mom; calling her and explaining what happened was a pretty traumatic experience.
