as has been said this is nothing new. Companies will do anything to make money. Action figures and the like have been around for as long as I can remember, and bad movies made from bad cartoons have been around for almost as long. As far as why poeple don't go to the movies anymore, most of them are such a load of crap that they aren't worth the $7.00 price of admision.
