Red Rose
A red Rose standing alone
In the middle of a garden
Admired from afar, as only few have touched her
Her beauty is timeless, never fading in the daylight
Yet by night, the moon turns her petals crimson
Thus is her natural color
For she is cursed to forever thrive upon the pain of others
Each person who touches her she pricks
She wills her thorns away, yet they stay
Marring her would be lovers
Staining her petals with thier blood
In turn they curse her for her carelessness
She tries to control her thorns
Smoothing the ends with her need for someone true
Who could look past her crimson red petals
To pluck away her thorns
And make her blossom in the daylight
But her savior never comes, and finally
In the light of day she slowing wilts
Her once beautiful petals fall to the earth
All that remains are her thorns
Stained with her efforts at finding her love
Thus giving her the name
Red Rose
