Well, I guess it also depends a lot on if you're willing to relocate or not.
Blizzard Entertainment (makers of Warcraft, Diablo) are almost always looking for artists. (Except at the moment, unfortunately) They're based out of California though, so you might have to relocate. For most companies, you can just send them a portfolio of your work. All you gotta do is go to their website, look up their employment section and show them what you've got. I know if I was a developer in need of an artist I would definately consider you. Good luck!
Oh yeah, it would also help a lot if you have a passion for gaming. You might also want to know how to use some industry tools like Photoshop or even some 3D rendering software. That would definately work to your advantage.
