Displaced.
Dig deep, another abyss
Climbing and climbing
And never quite reaching the top
Every rung presents two more
Every rung presents much more
Surrounded on all sides by fools
And hypocrites
Those that would guide me
Seemingly so much higher on the ladder
So much higher on a ladder that never ends
Where do I stop and it begins?
What does it matter to take the higher rungs
On a ladder that has no sense of reality
Lower rungs as good as the higher
Because there's just no difference.
Blind to the uselessness of self
Trying to embrace the without from within
And all I find is nothing.
And all I find is nothing.
I could try to break this body
Try to break this mind and soul
Skid right to the edge
But I can't drop
Because there's just no where else to go.
Drifting down a river that flows upstream
There are those who would paddle against it
Those who would even abandon ship
Swim against the tide themselves
But all are swept away in the end
There are no pardons
There are no pleas
The most that I can hope for
Is a sweet nothingness.
Heaven holds no place for me.
