MAC has its day
The Mid American Conference and Marshall had a victory today against the Kansas State Wildcats. That makes three victories over ranked opponents for the MAC so far this year.
Add to that stat nice victories outside the Top-25 like the thrashing Miami OH handed to Colorado St. today, and Bowling Green lost by only seven to Ohio State.
As of this post, Toledo was down to #11 Pittsburgh by only three, 17-14. And Northern Illinois was at half with Alabama, down only 9-5. So, the conference may get some more nice wins tonite.
Anyway, the purpose of this is thread isn't to proclaim the conference as deserving as the big boys. Or to even say that the conference can compete with the big boys. That would be silly.
But who is the best mid-major football conference? (Non-BCS)
I think the MAC can make a heck of an arguement.
EDIT: Northern Illinois beats Alabama at Tuscaloosa. That gives them two wins over top-25 teams this year, and raises the MAC total to four victories over ranked opponents this year.
EDIT2: Toledo just beat Pittsburgh. That makes five wins for the MAC over the top-25 this year, the third today, and two in the top-10 today. WOW!
