I dont like the idea at all. Having your father die isn't something you immediately bounce back from. I dont think the show, no matter how hard they try, would be able to convey the actual feeling of what it is like to have your dad taken away from you at a young age.
It'll either be preachy and insincere, or the "sitcom" nature of the show will make out the situation to be not quite as devastating as it really is.
