They said that saddam supported Al-Qaida, if i recall correctly, he even financed them with large hunks of money. Saddam had no ties with al Qaeda. al Qaeda hates the Ba'ath party for establishing a secular government in a historically arab area. Saddam hates al Qaeda for trying to make Iraq a theocracy.
There was no link between Al Qaeda and the Iraqi government.
No money was changing hands, no moral support, no financial support, and no staging area support from the Ba'ath party.
