Well if you get rid of Dx9 and use Dx8 the performance boost on FX card is overwhelming. Like Lasereth has said, we can't base performance of these two cards on games that haven't even been finished yet, in fact they're probably far from finished.
Personally I think ATi and Valve have done some shady dealings with each other, but I guess it's only fair since nVidia have their logo all over games like UT2003 and such.
