filemaker pro is a great program.
mysql has one big advantage : it's free !!!
and if u ever want to host your collection on a website. you can put in on mac/linux/pc without any problems. @ the job we usted to work with MSsql, until the boss read about the free part and since then we are mysql, i never regretted the change, great sql server.
