I've tried it multiple times, and each time, we used no rules except for the base stats of each character. No plot, no feasible combat system, no nothing. You got dicked over BIG TIME! If I may, I suggest you try again with another group, or perhaps another game, I don't know. If there's a gaming store near you they should have a good way to connect with other RPGers.
