The name of the game at schools like UT, OU, OSU, Michigan, Miami, Tenn and numerous others is to win rivarly game first than the national championship game.
I would love for Michigan to win the NC every year but as long as they beat OSU, State and ND (when they play) I am happy no matter what else they do all season long. NC is just the icing on the cake....beating the three above mentioned teams with the first two meaning the most...means more than a NC. NC just gives nationwide respect....winning the rivarly gives you bragging rights for a year against your most hated enemies.
