Well by GAWD we need a CUBS thread!
C'mon all you closet Cubs fans, it's safe to come out now. It's SEPTEMBER and the Cubs are still in it! Temperature in hell: 700 degrees and dropping, baby!
But seriously, in order for our beloved Cubbies to have a chance in this thing a couple things have to happen, imo:
1. Destroy and scatter the ashes of Antonio Alfonseca. The man is a bane to the existance of the Cubs. He is beyond bad. He is so deadly he should be wearing our opponents jersey when he comes out of the bullpen.
2. Kerry Wood needs to step it up! Yeah he's good, no doubt about it, but he needs to take it to the next level. This is his 5th season, he really needs to take charge and show the guys what endurance and dedication is about. Going 6 innings like he did against the Reds today was, in my opinion, subpar for him. Where's the Wood of last season?
3. We need to trade one of the following: Eric Karros, Hee Seop Choi or Randall Simon. 3 1st basemen ain't good for 1 team and we could get some good relief pitching to replace the aforementioned banished and never-spoken-of-again Alfonseca.
What do y'all think?
