i think what pulley is saying that the background seems rather abstract, all the elements there are very geometric and do not hold the eye...except for the cactii. which is probably why that was one of the first things that i saw instead of your character as well.. maybe keep it all abstract? or make a background that is more coherent? i think that the character is interesting except for the head.. everything else seems to work well with itself.
