The longer it takes, the farther it goes in my experience. Holding off for a few days also adds to it.
My shooting is abit stronger than I'd like...I've given myself a facial by accident a few times, and hit my gf accidentally. And then I hit my neck and chest and had to take a shower...Yeah messing around can get kinda sticky...
