That's possibly a result of a high level of DXM from the cough syrup. It's quite dangerous, because cough syrup can also contain chlorpheniramine maleate, which deprives the ganglia in your brain of oxygen, slowly killing you if taken in large enough doses. I found this out a while back while researching mushrooms.
