I was thinking the same thing about Tool. They are really great and I love their music but people hold them up so high and bash you into the ground if you say an unkind word about them.
I don't think Nirvana is overrated. I liked a ton of songs off of Bleach but I think they sounded better live.
I can't see how Pearl Jam could be overrated as they've influenced a lot of music people put out now.
50 Cent is overrated, sure. His songs that aren't being played every 5 minutes though are pretty damn good for rap.
And there's no possible way The Beatles are overrated. If you don't like them say so, but they can't be overrated. Name another band that's as influential as them from that time period.
Also, any band that is playing a concert near you and they've just had one song everyone knows and the radio is hailing them as the next big thing is overrated. Some of these bands are actually really good besides just that song or two they play on the radio, but that doesn't mean they're not overrated. And I hate how DJs on the radio call a song brand new when I've been listening to it for a few months or even a year from the album it came off of.
