I found a fun way to give myself a quasi-out of body experience:
I'll lay on my side in my bed, and close my eyes and make a mental image of my room. Then I'll imagine myself positioned 180 degrees rotated on my bed. So if my feet are closest to the wall and I'm facing away from the wall, I'll imagine that my head is closest to the wall and that I am facing the wall. I concentrate on making myself believe that I'm positioned differently than I actually am, and then I get a wierd floating/hovering feeling. Kinda lame, but try it and see if it works.
Ever woken up suddenly in the middle of the night convinced that you were hovering inches above your mattress, and somehow fell to the mattress (which is why you woke up)? I've heard this happens to a lot of people, happens to me all the time. I doubt that I'm actually hovering... maybe it's a complete body spasm?
