well, I'm pretty sure that all mammals have nipples regardless of sex. I would assume that as fetuses female and male bodies start out very similar and that this is why we have nipples.
I cant find it now but there is the whole thread comparing penises to vaginas and how similar they are. I think that with nipples it's kinda the same thing.
