Anybody who could write and record "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" and "Mr. Bad Example" deserves to live forever.
Zevon wasn't afraid to write about the ugly and hard side of life, with wit and understanding; and when it became clear that he was to die, he faced his doom with the same wicked humor that was his trademark. Gotta love a guy like that.
