I just had my Viper 791XV installed. Sure its $600 installed, but it has two way communication with confirmation (i.e. when I hit the unlock button, the remote chirps or vibrates to confirm that the doors have unlocked), has a remote start, and has a range of up to a quarter mile. It can also interface with Viper's GPS tracking system, allowing me to know exactly where my car is in real time. It also gets me a decent discount on car insurance. Viper also will cover $2,500 of damage to the car if stolen, whether it is recovered or not.
