attach the chain to the FRAME of the truck, not the bumper - so you don't do damage. You might need a strong "web strap" to attach to the stump. You could also rent a "comealong" from your hardware store or rental center and use that to pull it out. Attach the other end to a strong tree or vehicle, etc.
