I suppose there is a reward; the satisfaction of knowing that you helped someone. But that doesn't lessen the good any.

Possibly. But there ARE people who can be happy for another person. Because you're incapable of doing so doesn't mean other's aren't.

You're operating under the erroneous assumption that because there is some sort of reward involved that the acts or motivation behind the acts can't be good.
