The question as to whether Jesus would be treated differently this time is a good one. Probably not. Miracles or otherwise, he was a rabblerouser. He told the power structure that they were full of it. They dealt with him. Why would this time be different? They might not crucify him in the flesh, but they'd crucify him in the media-- the death of a million phosphor dots. Cruel. Like Bill Clinton, only cubed.

The question as to whether Jesus is coming back is not worth worrying about, even if you're a biblical literalist. If his teachings actually work for you, you don't need him to be there. Nor do you need to dwell on the end times as a release from the frustrations of the day. Just live.
