I have a very similar problem. I have trouble shot this thing and determined a few things
1. I don't think it is the network card. I can still access files on the other computers on the network when computer #2 drops off.
2. It NEVER happens to my primary computer, but it does happen to my wife's and my work computer.
3. I think it has something to do with how the DNS server is working but I do not know. It only affects our ability to surf the internet.
With that being said, how DO you update the firmware of the router? I have a 3 - 4 y/o linksys router. Maybe that will help me.
