mainstream rap right now is a horrid monster, and in order to make it big you have to talk about material possesions ... women ... and crap like that. if you would make an effort to check out underground artists i think you would find that there are people out there trying to put out intelligent, thought provoking lyrics that are not mtv bullcrap. for instance, check out an underground label called Definitive Jux. some of their artists include: Cannibal Ox, they're founder El-P, Aesop Rock, and my personal favorite Mr. Lif. dont deny yourself this fantastic genere of music because mtv butchers it to hell. hardly anything on mtv is a true representation of the music anyway so dont base your opinions on that.
