Album artwork and the designers behind them
I've been reading 2 books by Storm Thorgerson, "Eye of the Storm" and "Mind Over Mater: The Images of Pink Floyd"
Great books and beautiful layout of his artwork. Storm discusses and disects the making of his creations. Both books include alternate artwork for his clients and a colorful outlook on the record industry suits, who, try to annoy him in every way. "Eye of the Storm" is sadly out of print, but if you look in the right spots, you can easily obtain it. The other book, is readly available from any bookstore, make sure it's the most recent one, as it has info on the forth coming Pulse DVD layout and the recent issue of Dark Side of the Moon.
Another book I recomend is, "Views" by Roger Dean. Roger is that guy who did all those fantasy album covers for Yes during the 70's. It too, is out of print, but can be easily found.
I'm wishing that Hugh Syme would release a book of his own. Considered the 4th member of Rush, his album artwork is quite good and rivals Storms work.
Anyone have any favorite album artwork and/or designers?
