What I would do is send off three e-mails. One to Squaretrade and one to eBay, explaining the current situation. The other one should be sent to the guy (assuming he's changed the contact info associated with his eBay account). You might also try getting in touch with paypal or whatever pay system you used, to see if you can return the money, if you in fact received any.
