Er...I think I read it in Scientific American or Discover or some other pop sci mag a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can find the research to back up my memory.
Cheetahs are still around but for how long? By "short-term" survival I mean centuries, by "long-term" survival I mean more-or-less permanent population stability. Cheetahs and many other endangered animals have only been endangered for the last hundred years or less, and without human intervention would have been extinct long ago. And we have yet to see if they do in fact survive in the wild for the next hundred years as habitats grow scarce.
