I've actually met Colin Powell and Oliver North in an official capacity.
When I lived in L.A., I saw celebs all the time. A short list:
Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Linda Hamilton (while filming T2)
Betty White (Golden Girls). She smiled and waved back.
Magic Johnson
Sylvester Stallone (surprisingly short in real life)
Henry Rollins (I shook hands with him, but didn't really get to talk to him. He seemed pretty cool.)
Axl Rose, when GNR were extremely popular (Personal note: Quite possibly the biggest asshole walking the planet. Not at all nice to the people who were handling him at that particular moment, and just plain rude to his fans who just wanted his autograph. Sure, everyone can have a bad day, but this could possibly help explain why not many people buy GNR albums anymore).
I saw Richard Simmons in the airport in Charlotte, N.C. a month or so ago. Ten minutes later, I saw Arn Anderson (WWE wrestler). Talk about going from one extreme to another! They were both in a hurry, and I don't collect autographs anyway, so I left them alone. However, Richard Simmons was gracious enough to stop and sign autographs and talk to a few people.
I met Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton and Jessica Corbin at a Screen Savers taping in July in SF. They were all super nice people.
I have met several local celebs in New Orleans. I've met Paul Prudhomme more than once. I have also met Emeril Lagasse (nice guy). I have seen Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails around a couple of times but never met him.
I have never actually met John Goodman, but I know his wife and her family.
