What's the point of WarDriving? I mean, everyone and their brother knows that there are unsecured wireless networks out there... you can even look up a database at NetStumbler.
Anyway, I think the real value of WarDriving is that it teaches you the dynamics of wireless ethernet, how to use directional antennae to get the best signal strength, and really separates the low-quality equipment from the higher end stuff.
When it comes down to it though, if I'm not traveling in another city, I'd much rather be surfing the net on my home LAN than in the back seat of a car, with 1/5 signal bars on a slow shared DSL connection.... just my 2c.
